The BAILLIE PARK COMMUNITY PROJECT NPC (BPGP) was founded on 23 June 2021 with 8 members from the Baillie Park community to improve the neighbourhood security and tidiness in collaboration with the community and the JB Marks municipality.

The first priority project involved the installation of security cameras in the neighbourhood that are monitored 24/7 by a security company, with a mobile reaction unit. Phase 1 of the Camera Project has been completed. After completion, 52 cameras monitor movement at 16 different locations in the neighbourhood. Phase 2 of this project is already well advanced to install another four camera stations with 12 cameras. The cost and localities of the camera stations are approved by the BPGP management committee before installation and communicated continually with the members.

At the end of February 2022 there will be 64 cameras at 20 different localities in Baillie Park that are digitally linked to the Mooirivier Beskerming control room, where they are monitored, with mobile response when required. A map that provides the lay-out of Phases 1 and 2 are included at the end of this document. As mentioned before, we acknowledge with gratitude the valuable contributions of ES le Grange Hoërskool, Bailliepark Spar, Vescotech and Die Opstal guest house for the cameras that they sponsored. In the same vein, we also thank the anonymous resident for the interest free loan that kick-started the project. All of this is proof of what is possible when the community unites.

The R290,000 account for the installation cost of Phase 1 has been settled, while the installation cost of Phase 2 is a further R90,000. The monitoring cost is currently R12,800 per month.

Improving the neighbourhood security only constitutes one part of the BPGP mandate, with the maintenance and tidiness of the neighbourhood the other part. The BPGP plan to become involved in the repair of pot holes, cutting of grass in the parks and on pavements, repair of leaking water pipes and street lights and other similar activities in Baillie Park. These activities are attended to in collaboration with the JB Marks Municipality and the Ward 3 councillor and Ward committee, to meaningfully contribute to service delivery solutions in the neighbourhood.

“JOIN THE BPGP AND BECOME PART OF THE SOLUTION!”

Cost to become a BPGP-member is as follows:

- Home owners – R200/R120* pm
